Microsoft Accuses Russian Company of Plagiarism

Microsoft Accuses Russian Company of Plagiarism

Microsoft’s Russian office suspects “Integrated safety technologies” in the usage of technology created by the American corporation. Microsoft researchers demanded from the company an explanation why their product “Spartan 300” is based on motion sensing controller Kinect for Xbox 360 with a sealed emblem of the corporation.

In the mid February “Integrated safety technologies” presented a video that tells about the ”Spartan 300”, which is a device able to predict the person’s intentions relying on his/her mimic. The developers claim that the system uses “specially trained networks” through which key parameters of the human are defined and stored – the information, which can be used in future in discovering the “wanted” people.

According to Microsoft’s rep, the experts asked the Russian company to show the license that gives them right to use the controller resembling Kinect. But “Integrated safety technologies” didn’t fulfil the requirement.

American developers say that from the very beginning the sensors used in Kinect obtained reduced resolution in order to make the product cheaper. The quality of resolution lets the controller to distinguish the body movements only.

However, “Integrated safety technologies” researchers said the device is able to detect movements of the head, eyes, eyebrows and lips, which can lead to analysis of the psychological state of the person.
